Senior, Software Engineer

Base Pay Range $90,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Position Summary As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a significant role in building world class capabilities to solve real world business problems in the merchandising area of Sam's Club. What You'll Do Apply your Java and distributed systems competencies to the improvement of existing products and the development of new software solutions at the enterprise‑scale. A proven team player, you’ll have the opportunity to provide hands‑on leadership while taking an active role in collaborative assessments and design discussions. You will provide guidance to small groups of three to five engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timelines. You will lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to produce high‑level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user‑experience teams. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including business, product, UX, and other engineering teams to build high‑quality solutions that are highly scalable and reliable. You will provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues; researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; identifying short‑term and long‑term solutions; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of the associate's domain. You will troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information; performing root‑cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing documentation. Minimum Qualifications Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year’s experience in software engineering or related area. Knowledge and experience in creating inclusive digital experiences, implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
