Job Description:Safety Director We are a privately owned, 40 year old trucking company located in Roanoke, VA. We have facilities across the central - southeast part of the US. We operate dry vans, reefers (with teams) and some conestogas. We have regional and local drivers, as well as spotters for our dedicated customers. Creates, implements, and evaluates the company’s safety policies. Ensures driver and company compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing the operation, including DOT and FMCSA. Conducts periodic safety inspections of terminals, shops, and vehicles. Oversees accident investigation and documentation. Conducts annual safety meetings at all locations. Manages all property damage or accident claims, from initial filing to resolution. Reviews applicants for driving positions to screen for safety record and approve / deny hire. Retrains / coordinates the retraining of in-service drivers. Coaches managers and supervisors on how to maintain a safety culture. Maintains H.O.S. (Hours of Service) records and compliance. Manages workers compensation process, including driver and claims management. Maintain OSHA records and compliance. Supervises small Safety Team Requirements: 4 years’ experience in the transportation safety industry. Holds Safety Director certification Working knowledge of ELD’s (Electronic Log Display) (Omnitracs). Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Email). Working knowledge of H.O.S. and other federal regulations pertaining to the transportation industry. Knowledge of AS400
