JOB SUMMARY
To perform a variety of welds such as: butt welds, saddle welds, and repairing porosity in castings. Utilizing orbital TIG and/ or laser welding equipment and a variety of fixtures. To produce an acceptable weld that meets the requirements as specified on the blueprint or work order procedure line and is readily polishable as required. Perform silver soldering, as required, on special products.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform welding assignments according to the blueprint and routing procedure sheet. Tasks will include the following:
- Select proper tooling and fixturing required to run the job.
- Setup the welding machine to the proper settings to achieve the proper penetration on the weld joint.
- Make adjustments required for proper gas backing for the weld.
- Inspect welds for proper fusion and for flaws such as: skips, pits, or lack of a good penetration.
- Make required repairs as necessary to defective weld areas or defective castings as discovered by employees in the polishing department or when cleaning the welds or castings.
- Weld for repair any broken and special fixturing and tooling as needed.
- Notifies quality control representatives and supervision of any parts with a high level of defects. Cleans and maintains welding, related equipment and working area free of any safety hazards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read, write, and process all instructions, written or verbal.
- Ability to use lifting and moving equipment as required.
- Ability to perform TIG and Laser welding operations in a variety of different physical positions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Quality oriented mindset, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to complete all tasks in a safe and accurate manner.
- Ability to read and understand basic manufacturing mechanical blueprints.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic Math skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed and alter hours as business needs dictate.
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two (2) years of related experience OR technical school graduate specializing in welding curriculum.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Specific PPE is required within the cell.
