Base pay range $349,000.00/yr – $400,000.00/yr Summary Serve as an Oncology Surgeon with Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) evaluating patients, conducting biopsies, and developing treatment plans. Occasionally assist with cross‑coverage of general surgery clinics. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements United States Citizenship (Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy). Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency programs approved by ACGME or AOA, or other non‑U.S. residencies followed by at least five years of verified practice in the United States. PRPs (Physician Resident Providers) must be fully licensed physicians and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis only under supervision. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred experience: Full‑time, fellowship‑trained surgical oncologist with broad practice in hepatopancreaticobiliary, upper GI, lower GI, and skin/soft tissue; preference for HPB and upper GI focus. Physical requirements: light lifting (under 15 lbs.), straight pulling, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing; color vision, rapid mental and muscular coordination, near vision correctable to 13″–16″, hearing aid permitted. Duties Start, continue, or finish your career with the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System; render care in complex or critical diagnoses or treatments with serious threat to life. Privileges granted for both inpatient and outpatient clinical areas including admission, history and physical examination, diagnosis, and pre‑operative, operative, and postoperative management. Provide referrals and requests for consultations, conduct consultations within scope of privileges, and supervise allied health professionals. Participate in the general surgical team call approximately Q5‑6 with one weekend every 6‑7 weeks.
