Senior Software Engineer, Back End (Payment Services) Do you love building and pioneering in the technology space? We are seeking Back End Software Engineers passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies and driving a major transformation within Capital One. What You’ll Do Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions. Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor other engineers. Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that drive powerful experiences for millions of Americans. Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala; work with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply). Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience in one of Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js. 1+ year of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service. 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks. 2+ years of experience in Agile practices. 3+ years of experience with Test Automation. 2+ years of experience in developing API service architecture using Spring Boot, Java, JUnit, Cucumber, Gherkin, Gatling, Xray, or Pact Testing. 1+ year of experience with DevOps and building tools using Jenkins CI/CD, Gradle, GitHub, Nexus, and SonarQube. Compensation McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000 Riverwoods, IL: $144,200 - $164,600 Other locations: subject to the pay range associated with that location; the actual annualized salary amount offered will be reflected in the offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
