Unit Overview:


This 36-bed Orthopedic Medical Surgical unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients undergoing a variety of orthopedic, spine, neurological, plastics, and trauma-related surgeries.

Our unit caters to a diverse adult population, including young adults through to geriatrics.

Situated on the 6th floor, this specialized inpatient unit operates in a fast-paced environment, focusing on post-operative care, trauma stepdown, and patients admitted through the emergency department.

Our care philosophy is guided by our mission and core values at CHRISTUS, fostering a collaborative team environment centered on patient-focused care.

Our nursing team collaborates closely with Beaumont Bone and Joint, the Physical Therapy department, and an in-house Nurse Practitioner to ensure a high standard of post-surgical care.

The Physical Therapy Department, located nearby on the same floor, conducts rounds on all orthopedic patients twice daily within our unit. We prioritize flexible scheduling and promote an engaging workplace that encourages education and leadership among our staff.
A Registered Professional Nurse is accountable for delivering patient care through the processes of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Additionally, the Registered Professional Nurse prescribes, delegates, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates patient education and the activities of ancillary nursing personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.

The Registered Nurse is equipped to provide both direct and indirect patient care.
