Responsibilities The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of projects throughout their lifecycle. They define, plan, track and manage projects, identify key resources, provide direction, and meet project objectives. They lead cross‑functional teams to deliver defined outputs on time, within budget, and to quality criteria, ensuring adherence to project‑management methodology practices, coaching teams, evaluating performance, and reinforcing enterprise knowledge management. Tasks Define appropriate delivery model for customer project as a composition of pre‑defined services, on‑site and/or remote delivery Scope and estimate the engagement Determine required resources for the project Understand and be able to deliver according to the SAP delivery models – e.g., local, near‑shore and off‑shore teams for most efficient delivery, coordinating across organizational boundaries including SAP ecosystem partners Assess, document, and communicate risk for the engagement Position SAP Activate as the delivery methodology for customer engagement, program, or project Delivery Conduct project planning activities and manage execution according to plan (Opportunity Management, initiating to closing…) Manage relationships with stakeholders, keep informed of progress, risks, and issues to manage expectations on all requirements and deliverables Communicate a clear vision of the project’s objectives and motivate the team to achieve them; create a project environment that enables peak performance Ensure proper use of SAP Activate methodology, tools, and procedures Ensure governance is in place and operates effectively to meet objectives Provide oversight over the end‑to‑end SAP engagement where required, bringing together silos and ensuring delivery accountability Balance the triple‑constraint (time, cost, scope) to realize expected business value Deliver SAP primed Fixed‑Price Projects (FPP) or Time and Material (T&M) engagements Proactively identify changes in scope early and plan accordingly with stakeholders to reassess scope, budget and timeline Manage financial aspects: budgeting, estimate‑to‑actual variance, quality forecasting for accurate financial position Analyze risk, establish contingency plans, identify trigger events and responsibilities for mitigating action Escalate issues early to account or delivery management Define successful closure, obtain acceptance and sign‑off by all parties Plan and execute formal Quality Gate process following the Q‑Gate approach in SAP Activate methodology Proactively manage stakeholder satisfaction to secure customer reference and success story Engage with SSP or SSL if applicable to ensure P&L targets and KPIs are achieved; collaborate closely with SSP or SSL on delivery topics Coaching & Mentoring Present project management reviews with customers and manage deployment effectively Mentor teams to ensure implementation of enterprise project‑management methodology, standards, and processes Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables, review quality of work, integrate team members’ work, and provide performance input to their functional managers Take responsibility as team lead when required and support line managers in people development tasks Knowledge Management Maintain project documentation and update relevant knowledge‑management bases; analyse lessons learned and share with the project‑management community Participate in the development of project‑management best practices Industry and Solution Experience 5+ years of experience in software implementation project management; utilities industry a plus 3+ years of experience in the utilities industry highly beneficial Proficient understanding of SAP solutions and consulting business processes Knowledge of strategic and operational issues of the project‑management business unit Proficiency with project‑management tools used in SAP Clear vision of success for the customer and enterprise Knowledge of planning tasks, resource allocation, risk management, time management, financial management, HR management, quality management, monitoring and reporting, documentation and record keeping Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change Ability to negotiate consensus among diverse groups and impact others not in own reporting structure Conceptual analytical thinking and decision‑making skills Strong interpersonal skills; clear, concise and tactful communication with senior management, clients, peers and team members Functional Experience Minimum 7–10 years of direct project management experience leading full‑lifecycle SAP implementations, utilizing SAP Activate, Agile/Hybrid, or Waterfall methodologies with budgets exceeding $5M–$10M Proven leadership of diverse cross‑functional teams ranging from 15 to 50+ FTEs, including management of SI partners and coordination of onshore/offshore delivery models End‑to‑end ownership of critical project artifacts (Project Charter, PMP, Financial Trackers), ensuring rigorous budget forecasting and resource loading accuracy with a variance target Track record of delivering complex projects on time and on budget by strictly managing Change Requests (CRs) to prevent scope creep, maintaining Quality Gate adherence and keeping defect density below targeted thresholds at Go‑Live International Experience Some international implementation experience is a plus Management and Leadership Experience Management experience in managing small to medium size teams or organizations Experience managing medium size multilayered team is desirable Management of remote resources (global delivery or distributed organization) is a plus P&L of LoB in small to medium size organization is desirable Cultural awareness and experience working across different cultures and nationalities Strong leadership and people management skills are desirable Experience leading in a matrix organization without formal authority is a plus English Language Fluent Education Required undergraduate university degree, preferably in commerce, engineering, information technologies or equivalent training and job experience Professional Training & Certification PMP certification and /or other industry and project‑management certifications are an asset PM Fundamentals class certification or similar Project Leadership Excellence (PLEX), Excellence in Delivery Management (EDM) or similar interpersonal skills course SAP Activate Certification Understanding of SAP Cloud ALM Project Management Tools (PEM, PtD, etc.) Experience using SAP BTM tools (particularly LeanIX, Signavio, and Cloud ALM) SAP S/4HANA Training Programs – including management of digital transformation projects, management of projects with Premium Engagement, Enterprise Support, Enterprise Cloud Services, Data Migration and Landscape Transformation, Cloud (SaaS), RISE and Artificial Intelligence projects Qualifying Statements SAP innovations help more than four hundred thousand customers worldwide work together more efficiently and use business insight more effectively. Compensation Range Transparency SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 107,300 - 230,600 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
