false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 GENERAL PURPOSE AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant is responsible for age appropriate re-assessment, planning, implementation, of referred patients and assuring the planned care is delivered in a safe economical, and efficient manner following Oconee Regional Medical Center's policies and procedures, values and mission statements, pledging service excellence. The OT assistant is responsible for assisting the OT in directing and performing treatment plan, patient's reaction to treatment and reassessment of the patient; sending progress notes to physicians and/or insurance companies as indicated, in a timely manner. Documents progress notes per department guidelines including changes in treatment plan, patient's reaction to treatment and reassessment of the patient; sending progress notes to physicians and/or insurance companies as indicated, in a timely manner. The COTA must demonstrate the ability to recognize contraindications to treatment and direct it to staff OT's, Dept. Manager, nursing and./or physicians. The COTA is also responsible to consult with physicians and other staff members regarding patient needs, equipment needs, or changes in patient status or treatment. The COTA must schedule patients appropriately, allowing enough time for indicated treatment. The COTA must demonstrate the ability to supervise all volunteers, technicians, students, and as needed. The COTA must attend continuing education classes to meet license renewal as required by the State of Georgia licensing Board, and demonstrate provision of education (in-services) for occupational therapy staff, hospital personnel, as well as community members. The COTA must be able to perform and instruct in therapeutic procedures including splint fabrication and use, care, and application of orthotics, prosthetic devices, and other assistive equipment. Instruct in therapeutic exercises. RELATED FUNCTIONS: Activities of daily living retraining. Instruction in energy conservation. Instruction in work simplification techniques Upper extremity kinetic activities Splinting Developmental (fine motor, visual motor and visual perceptual) skill intervention Cognitive/perceptual retraining Adaptive equipment recommendation and training Home safety recommendation and adaptation Periodic evaluation and revision of treatment plan EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: A graduate of a curriculum of occupational therapy approved by the National Board of Certified occupational Therapists in Collaboration with the council on medical Education of the American Medical Association, and presents a valid license Demonstrating registration as a Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant in the State of Georgia. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Must fulfill the legal requirements of the State of Georgia, including attending continuing education classes/programs to receive the required CEU's for license renewal. Must be CPR certified INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Relates cooperatively and constructively in all interactions during daily activities. VERBAL AND/OR COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must be able to read, write and speak the English language fluently. Demonstrates ability to relate to persons of various ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds. ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: Precise hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity. ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES: Knowledgeable and competent to perform essential function. ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sufficient mobility and strength to ambulate, lift, position, and transfer patient. Large amount of walking, standing, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, and kneeling. Minimal lifting requirements of fifty (50) pounds. EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: Exposure to infectious diseases, possible exposure to blood and body fluids and chemical products. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE: 1.Must meet minimum requirements of the performance standards outlined in the criteria based evaluation form and the competency package. 2.Must meet minimum physical requirements as outlined in this job description. 3.Must meet educational and certification requirements as outlined in this job description.
