Job Summary Assists in surgical operations under the supervision of Surgeons, Registered Nurses, and Surgical Assistants. Supports the operating room team in delivering the highest standard of patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform duties ethically and within scope of certification. Comply with HIPAA regulations. Scrub all types of cases performed at the company. Anticipate Surgeon needs and keep equipment, medical gases, and supplies available. Participate in continuing education, staff meetings, and Q.A.P.I. program. Know central and sterile supply department. Open sterile packs according to sterile technique and prepare instruments. Set up surgical instruments, ensure equipment works, label sterile solutions. Gather supplies and equipment in the room. Maintain record of medication used intra‑operatively, specimens, implants, liquids, or chemicals. Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgical assistants. Hold retractors, cut suture, help count sponges, needles, blades if applicable. Prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens for laboratory analysis. Operate sterilizer, lights, suction, and other operating room equipment. Assist in patient transfer to PACU if needed. Clean and restock operating room. Assist with technical functions under supervision of system to carry out safe operation. Prep, drape, and position patient for surgery. Prepare case according to Surgeon’s preference card. Gather supplies needed and anticipate case needs. Assist in orientation of new staff when needed. Actively participate in a healthy work environment. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Prioritize, plan, and implement patient care within scope of practice. Handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks. Manual dexterity to handle instruments. Emotionally conscientious, orderly, and stable. Adhere to work schedule, be organized, manage time effectively. Above average organization skills. Effective team player. Above average communication: verbal and written. Education and Experience High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Two years of hospital main operating room experience preferred. Licenses and Credentials Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Systems and Technology Knowledge of Amkai Charts Database software and Microsoft Word. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Physical Demands Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), standing (50%). Regular bending, stooping, reaching (25‑50%). Lifts, carries, pushes, pulls items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills; full use of hands. Visual and auditory acuity required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.
