River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River, this brand new, 128-bed facility, will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration.

The Intake/Admissions RN is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for assessing the medical bond behavioral needs of the patient and assisting in the process of responding to referrals and other requests for services and information.

Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; bachelor's degree preferred.

A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.

Currently licensed to practice by the California State Board of Nursing.

A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field. CPR certification and successful completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training. Training may be obtained during new hire orientation.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS ARE CATEGORIZED UNDER THE JOINT COMMISSION STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE.

Conduct and document the complete Nursing Assessment, including an admission summary and nutrition assessment (not to exceed 48hrs)
* Identify, document and prioritize mental/medical problems, including the need for detoxification as appropriate.
* Obtains admission orders from physician and completes nursing admission notes.
* Inventory Patient's Home Medication with patient's signature and notify House Supervisor to retrieve for patient lock-up until discharged.
* Document patient information and nursing care in the provision of nursing services.
* Report any signs or symptoms of infection in patients to the Infection Control Nurse.
* Intervention is based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures, as well as

the plan of care.
* Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.

Treatment Planning

* Prioritize and formulate an initial plan of care based on patient assessment and according to policy.

Utilize self as a role model to promote health communication.

Performance

* Participate in quality assurance programs.
* Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations and risk management.
* Demonstrate guest relations in communication, cooperation and in giving assistance to patients, physicians/licensed practitioners, co-workers and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner.
* Follow facility, departmental and personnel policies and procedures
* Works overtime in a case of emergency or as deemed necessary by supervisor.
* Assist in arranging for admission of patients, including alerting the business office staff to begin the verification of benefits, initiating calls to physicians and other related tasks as directed by the Case Manager.
* Determine what Releases of Information are needed, and process them accordingly, per policy. Arrange disposition and community resources. provide support to the Outcome Study, and other data, as assigned.
* Maintains good communication with the Utilization Review, Business Office, and other staff as
* Responsible for working with children, adolescents, adults, and senior populations. 85% of work time is spent providing direct patient care including assessment, diagnosing and direct treatment intervention. The remaining work time is spent completing non-direct duties, i.e. clinical supervision and clinical documentation.
