Job Description: Madden Industrial Craftsmen seeking Marine Pipefitters to assist our client's shipbuilding and ship repair team. The ideal candidate will plan, assemble, install, and maintains piping systems, supports for industrial processes on various marine vessels, including tug boats and barges. Utilizes knowledge of system operations and adheres to blueprints to select the appropriate type.

Shift: M-F Day Shift

Duration: Project Based

Pay: $27-45/hr DOE

Key Responsibilities:

Pipe Welding:


Perform welding of pipe systems using techniques such as SMAW, GMAW, and TIG (as per the project requirements).


Weld a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, and alloys as per ship specifications.


Ensure all welds are strong, meet quality standards, and pass visual or NDT inspections.


Pipe Fitting:


Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required dimensions using hand and power tools.


Fit and install piping systems (steam, hydraulic, fuel, or water) following precise specifications and blueprints.


Perform detailed alignment and fit-up of piping components in accordance with ship plans and regulations.


Blueprint Interpretation:


Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to determine the placement and installation of pipes and related equipment.


Ensure all installations meet regulatory codes, safety standards, and project specifications.


Safety Compliance:


Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations while performing welding and pipefitting tasks onboard.


Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that proper safety measures are followed at all times.



Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Pipe Welder and/or Pipe Fitter in a shipbuilding or industrial setting.


Proficiency in various welding techniques (SMAW, GMAW, TIG, etc.).


Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.


Familiarity with various types of piping systems used in shipbuilding (steam, water, fuel, hydraulic, etc.).


Strong knowledge of safety practices and protocols in a marine environment.


Experience with hand and power tools used in cutting, bending, threading, and welding pipes.


Certification in welding is preferred (e.g., AWS, ABS, or equivalent).


High school diploma or GED equivalent; vocational training in welding or pipefitting is a plus.



Skills and Competencies:

Attention to detail and precision in fitting and welding tasks.


Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot piping system issues.


Ability to work independently or as part of a team in tight and challenging spaces.


Physical stamina and strength to work in various environments and conditions aboard ships.



Work Environment:

Work is performed aboard ships, in shipyards, or in repair facilities.


May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.


Some lifting and manual labor required.
