For more information, visit www.owenscorning.com.Primary Purpose:The primary purpose of this position is to safely and systematically assemble lockset and trim set components while maintaining acceptable production levels within the quality parameters established.Job Duties:•Be capable of learning and retaining knowledge of product lines in department.•Follow Safety Rules and Regulations.•Responsible for keeping up with line production.•Meeting production requirements established for lockset and trim set production.•Maintain a clean work area.•Know all functions of each position regarding these assemblies.•Consistently fill out production report completely and correctly on a daily basis.•Participation in the safety suggestion program.•Exercise excellent housekeeping and organizational habits.•Perform repairs on locksets and handsets.•Improve speed without jeopardizing the quality.•Being active in problem solving and communicating issues that hinder production to cell leader and supervision.•Complete knowledge of the parts and the machinery.•After training, demonstrate the ability to work on all lines in the department.•Working knowledge of all set ups and changeovers. This must become second nature to the operator reducing downtime on the lines.•Demonstrate the ability to train new or existing operators on all aspects of production lines.•Excellent decision making at all times while being highly productive under little supervision.•Provide communication on all inventory related issues so they can be addressed with purchasing or quality control.•Review returns, evaluate, and repair if needed.•Implementation of lean manufacturing concepts.Job AnalysisJOB KNOWLEDGE: Advanced position. Requires intimate knowledge, will train others to achieve desired level of successJOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Approximately 6 months of work experience is required to become skilled in all phases of the job.INITIATIVE & INGENUITY: Work priorities are determined by updated production board, Line Leader or Supervisor instructions. This operator is responsible for quality checking the raw materials, sub-assemblies and final assemblies frequently. Be capable of working with other crew members while following verbal and written instructions.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under specific direction of Trilennium line or department leader, Supervisor, and General Manager, where goals and objective are established. Coordinate work with other crew members. Report any material handler deficiencies. Advise leads/supervisor of unusual circumstances as needed.RESPONSIBILITY FOR ERRORS: Errors may be serious involving inventory and will become apparent in normal production runs. Report any issues to cell leader and supervisor.CONTACT WITH OTHERS: Regular contact with crew members, other employees, lead people and staff members where improper handling may affect results. Clear, concise communications skills are important.PHYSICAL EFFORT: Flow of work and character of duties involve frequent use of hands, wrists and arms motions while standing a minimum of 10 hrs. per day (40 hrs. per week) with mandatory overtime during peak season. Rotating within the lines is required due to ergonomics. Normal and corrected hearing and vision are necessary with manual coordination some walking with frequent bending, twisting, stooping and lifting of approximately 30 lbs. Must have good hand eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable to using some hand tools. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT: This position will be required to be capable of limited troubleshooting all equipment on the line. Damage to this equipment would result in a loss for the company.WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Employees must be able to withstand heat up to 95 degrees.SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as stated in the Endura Safety Manual. This responsibility necessitates wearing of proper personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses & ear plugs) by each crew member on the line.
