OverviewThis announcement may be used to fill all current or future full-time and part-time openings at Youth Challenge Academy Ft. Gordon.If selected, applicant must be in compliance with the grooming regulations found in AR 670-1. Requests for waivers to these requirements will be submitted in accordance with the procedures found in AR 600-20 (Religious Accommodation) or AR 40-501 (Medical Accommodation).Part time pay is $19.00 per hour.The Georgia Youth Challenge Program (GaYCP) provides education, leadership, character development, and life-coping skills to Georgia youths to support successful outcomes in society. The program targets 16-18 year old youth who are at risk of not completing high school, offering a focused environment for academic goals along with personal development.The GaYCP mirrors a U.S. Army basic training environment, offering a structured program that emphasizes discipline, self-control, motivation, and whole-person development across eight core components: academic excellence, life coping skills, job skills training, responsible citizenship, leader/followership, health and hygiene, physical fitness, and service to community.All GaYCP staff serve as mentors and role models for cadets, providing the structure, academic support, social-emotional guidance, and supervision needed during the 22-week residential phase. During the 12-month Post-Residential Phase, graduates pursue post-secondary education, vocational training, full-time employment, military enlistment, or combinations thereof. The program operates academies at Fort Stewart in Hinesville and Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia, and has graduated over 19,000 cadets since 1993.Specific Duties of a Cadre WorkerSupervise and train youth in a quasi-military style program of physical training, character development, and general education.Assist in monitoring, training, disciplining, and supervising cadets.Provide a safe and clean environment, security, non-professional counseling services, and on-site crisis intervention.Document student progress and encourage cadets to enhance motivation.The selected candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule when needed, which will include some evenings, weekends, or additional hours. Applicant is required to maintain a valid driver’s license.NOTE: The Georgia Department of Defense has determined that “GENDER IS A BONA FIDE OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATION" for this job.
