Assistant Director of Resident Services Enhances and improves the SRIM experience specifically in Heartful Care for our residents and their families, demonstrates and promotes SRIM’s core value of the Golden Rule, accepts management responsibilities of the Nursing Department in the absence of the director of Resident Services, and assists in managing the care of all residents by performing the following duties. Responsibilities Demonstrates excellent decision‑making skills and understands the impact of those decisions. Sets and manages priorities. Accepts calls from staff during nights and weekends. Conducts meetings and training as required or requested. Communicates in a clear, accurate and timely manner. Assists in reviewing new associate applications, checks references, and interviews applicants for the best possible hire. Assists in monitoring associates’ work and performance. Assists in coaching and counseling associates in a respectful manner. Assists in completing associate performance evaluations in accordance with established policy. Assists in monitoring expenditures weekly to ensure compliance with department budgeted monthly amounts. Assists in scheduling associates based upon budgeted FTEs and prepares assignments to ensure efficiency. Provides “hands‑on” care on an as‑needed basis to meet the needs of the residents. Assists in performing evaluations for residents to determine level of care and services. Participates in monthly ECC & LNS meetings with the Director of Resident Services and the Corporate Director of Nursing. Ensures medication orders are accurate on the MORS. Assists in reviewing and investigating all incident reports and recommends appropriate action/follow‑up to the Executive Director. Understands and adheres to the ALF regulations pertaining to assisted living health care laws. Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects or situations that could cause harm or falls to residents, families, visitors, and associates. Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits. Knows, understands, and follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations. Is considered essential personnel especially during emergencies. Wears clean and appropriate dress per established policy. Understands and complies with HIPAA regulations. Takes initiative in work, seeks out additional information and offers solutions or suggestions. Willingly takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties. Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or requested. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises employees in the Resident Services and Nursing Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Computer: Knowledge of word‑processing software and electronic medical records. Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED and one to two years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination. Certificates and Licenses: Valid Nursing License. Physical Demands The employee regularly stands, walks, uses hands, reaches with hands and arms, talks or hears; frequently stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls; occasionally sits, climbs or balances; lifts or moves up to 50 pounds. Occasionally exposed to bloodborne pathogens. Work Environment The employee is occasionally exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
