Director of Network Engineering and Operations Location: Greenville, NC Salary Range: $150,000 – $200,000 per year Responsibilities Own the creation and design of networking and telecom initiatives for a large health system. Work directly with executive leadership to bring to life several large projects and develop strategy for AI environments, new AI call centers, cloud infrastructure (hybrid), advanced network and telecom presence, telehealth, and data center redesign. Develop and manage multi‑year plans for network infrastructure upgrades, ensuring alignment with business goals and IS team roadmaps. Design and maintain wired/wireless networks that meet performance, security, and scalability needs, providing secure connectivity across data centers, cloud environments, and enterprise systems. Partner with stakeholders to standardize network services and ensure compliance with ITSM processes and governance. Implement robust security protocols, monitor KPIs, conduct regular testing, and collaborate with cybersecurity teams to safeguard systems and meet regulatory compliance. Drive efficiency through automation of provisioning, monitoring, and incident response, adopting emerging technologies to continuously improve operations. Foster an agile, collaborative environment, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and a culture of service excellence. Develop and monitor budgets, assess total cost of ownership, and benchmark services to optimize value and manage costs effectively. Lead and mentor two managers for networking and telecom teams, with a total of two managers overseeing roughly 20 direct staff and 200+ infrastructure personnel. Desired Qualifications Director-level networking experience (or manager level with at least 5 years of high-level strategy focus). At least 4 years of Healthcare IT experience. Experience designing enterprise networking strategy and successfully managing enterprise network systems in a large, multi-site, geographically diverse organization (15k+ nodes, 10,000+ employees). Forward looking telecom experience. Extensive experience in network design and implementation with expert knowledge of architecture, protocols, and technologies. Experience with cloud networking, virtualized environments, and data center operations; strong understanding of network security principles. Clear ability to make high-level decisions. Experience managing large teams. Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology, or related field.
