The Floor Inspector is responsible for inspecting workpieces and assemblies at assembly, inspection, or machine station to ensure conformance to specifications. This is a 1st shift position; hours are 6am to 2pm. Hourly pay rate is $21/hr. Primary Functions Reads blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as specified material, surface finish, and dimensions. Measures dimensions such as length, height, and distance between reference points to ensure product meets specifications. Reports findings to the Foreman or Inspection Supervisor, Quality Assurance. Inspects first run parts. Sets up and tries out inspection equipment to ensure accuracy. Tests hardness of workpiece surface. Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies Good verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates a clear understanding of policies and procedures of operation; complies with and applies policies and procedures appropriately. Keeps current with and effectively applies new work methods, skills, and technologies to complete work. Demonstrates the willingness and competence to work in multiple functional areas. Plans, prioritizes, and organizes work effectively to produce measurable results. Assesses situations accurately and determines appropriate action. Identifies and utilizes resources effectively and responsibly. Takes ownership for own self-development. Minimum Qualifications Mathematically inclined. Good computer skills with the ability to work with shop-floor systems. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Work Environment and Physical Demands The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving parts. Portions of the shop floor can be hot (with temperature > 100˚F in annealing department) and this individual is expected to be on the shop floor for all of the shift. The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies. Must be able and comfortable to work in a heavy-industrial environment. Must be able to walk to work locations 100% of the time. Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach below/above shoulders to access equipment for repair. Must be able to lift tools, parts, and equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted. #J-18808-Ljbffr
