Deputy Chief Information Officer (Information Technology VI) Colorado Department of Revenue invites applications for the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) role, responsible for leading IT and operations teams across the department. The selected finalist will begin employment no earlier than January 1 , 2026. Description of Job Role Overview: Serve as strategic partner to the CIO, overseeing an enterprise IT portfolio—including Accessibility & Applications, Data Analytics, Salesforce, and SharePoint teams—while managing the IT budget, vendor contracts, and cross‑departmental projects. Lead department‑wide operations, such as physical space planning, building security, emergency preparedness, and collaboration with the Judicial Branch and building management. Function as a hands‑on leader who guides daily work of unit supervisors and staff, balancing strategic insight with operational execution. Minimum Qualifications Ten (10) years of professional experience overseeing information technology/data functions, systems, and teams, including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience. OR a combination of directly related education (e.g., Business Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Public Administration) and professional experience totaling ten (10) years, including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience. Foreign degree holders must submit an accredited translation/evaluation. Strong background in government budgeting, procurement, and operations management. Preferred Qualifications Strong team leadership and strategic oversight. High proficiency with technology and rapid learning of specialized systems. Understanding of government budgeting and funding processes. Experience making high‑impact decisions in complex organizational environments. Hands‑on working manager experience. Project management skills and vendor contract experience. Knowledge of digital accessibility and Title II standards. Facility and operations management experience. Fleet management experience. Budget development and oversight. Contracting and procurement process knowledge. Leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills. Ability to translate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
