Additional Position Information BUILDING SUBSTITUTE TEACHER We are seeking dedicated and reliable Building Substitute Teachers. Building Substitutes play a crucial role in maintaining instructional continuity during the absence of regular teachers. The ideal candidates will be passionate educators who can effectively manage a classroom environment while adhering to the curriculum and lesson plans provided. A Building Substitute is assigned to one "home" building. It is expected for the Building Substitute to report to work for all student days in the school year. Building Substitutes report to their assigned building and provide various forms of instructional support to the building. If a need arises in another building in the district, they may be directed to work at another building, occasionally. The building substitute assignment will be in effect for the duration of the current school year. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Hold a valid Washington State Certificate (Certificated Substitute Teacher or Emergency Substitute Teacher). Must have the ability to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and children. Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment. Positive attitude and dedication to supporting student learning. JOB DUTIES: Effectively manage a classroom of students by keeping them on task and engaged. Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the absent teacher. Follow lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher. Supervise and ensure the safety of students during classroom hours. Maintain a positive learning environment. Leave feedback and notes for the regular classroom teacher. Assist with non-classroom duties when assigned. POSITION EXPECTATIONS: Be scheduled on daily (Monday-Friday) substitute assignments. Open to working in a different classroom each day. Follow through with scheduled assignments. Take part in 30-day trial period before permanent hire. Be flexible when asked to complete duties beyond the original assignment. Must model professional experience, attitude, and demeanor. Must demonstrate an appreciation of diversity.
