Director of Banquets – The Farnam, Autograph Collection – Omaha, NE • Omaha, NE, US Overview Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently seeking a remarkable Director of Banquets for The Farnam, Autograph Collection in Omaha, NE. Annual Salary Rate: $80,000-87,000/year Job Description Manage banquet service operations to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service and compliance with corporate/franchise policies and procedures while meeting/exceeding Customer Service/financial goals. The position is responsible for long- and short-term planning and day-to-day operations of the banquet section. Recommends policy and procedural changes. Implements and monitors the department’s budget and manages expenses within approved budget constraints. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they’ve made the right choice to stay with us. Responsibilities Analyze banquet event orders, communicate effectively with customers, managers and associates to ensure that all room setups, equipment, supplies, staffing and menus meet/exceed customer expectations. Review all schedules, equipment, supplies and organize workflow to ensure a quality event for customers on a daily basis. Monitor and control banquet budget (i.e., labor costs, beverage costs, supplies and equipment) and coordinate with event budgets to maximize revenue and minimize expenses while providing quality guest service. Implement company programs (company/franchise) and resolve daily operational problems through consistent monitoring of banquet operations to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations, procedures and to ensure an optimum level of service, quality and hospitality. Supervise human resources in the banquet area to retain and motivate associates, hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication channels, and, as appropriate, recommend discipline and termination. Qualifications and Requirements High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent. Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards. This job requires the ability to perform the following Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the catering, food and beverage and hospitality professions, including experience managing people, solving complex problems, driving sales, and managing food and beverages. Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities and information involving readily available data and provide logical conclusions and recommendations. Ability to make occasional decisions guided by established policies and procedures. Good oral and written communication skills. Second language preferred. Must have professional appearance and attitude. Excellent hearing and vision for interactions and setup evaluations. Excellent speech communication skills for interactions with guests and associates. Excellent literacy for reading BEOs, processing gratuities and payroll, etc. Other Being passionate about people and service. Strong communication skills when interacting with guests and employees. Reading and writing abilities used for paperwork, logging issues/complaints/requests/updates, etc. Basic math skills for handling cash or credit. Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
