· Under the direct supervision of the Radiation Therapy Manager and general supervision of the Oncology Service Line Director and according to established policies and procedures. Provides professional nursing care to those patients being evaluated, treated and followed by the Department of Radiation Therapy. Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient/family advocate, and works with other nursing and ancillary personnel as required. Work is very confidential. Reviews present healthcare practices, identifies current health problems, and documents findings in the patient record for physician review.
Addresses the need for nursing intervention at the time of visit and identifies the type of intervention necessary.
Evaluate patients' healthcare strengths and utilize these to overcome identified limitations.
Identifies problems interfering with compliance to prescribed medical regimens and adjusts the nursing plan accordingly.
under the general supervision of the physician or RN.
Set up equipment and position patients for examinations.
Draw blood samples and obtain specimens for cultures, urinalysis and/or wound analysis.
Under general supervision of the physician or RN, monitors patient's response to invasive procedures performed in the clinic area and notifies physician of reactions.
Under general supervision of the physician, analyzes and identifies the need for ongoing nursing care and initiates public health referrals or other support service referrals.
Participates in department Clinical Quality Measures and other defined quality processes and procedures in the department.
Assist with diagnosis codes under the general supervision of the physician.
Under general supervision of the physician or RN, assist with emergency cases after hours or on weekends as the need arises. Accurately documents nursing observations, medications, treatments, and other care given.
Serves as a backup support for the Oncology Nurse Navigator
