Summary:

The General Manager is responsible for leading the execution of exceptional business standards with regard to guest experience, operations, talent development, and financial performance. This role is also responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with our investors, vendors, team members, and management teams while instilling business philosophies to deliver unparalleled guest experiences. This role will assist a sister property in Cape May County as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Know, understand, and adhere to company established policies and procedures.
  • Ensures guest interactions are always positive. Smiles with every guest.
  • Responsible for overseeing successful operations in the following departments: Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Catering Operations, Beach and Pool Operations, transportation, and Maintenance/Engineering.
  • Create and maintain relationships with clients and guests in all areas, with a strong passion to elevate one's overall experience at the property. Must be willing to become the face of the property, exercising pro-active community involvement, and interpersonal guest services.
  • Enforce outstanding internal and external guest service standards according to Madison's Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Oversee and assist in all hotel management, including creative recruitment, interviews, hiring and onboarding, training and development, progressive discipline, motivation, rewarding, and termination of staff.
  • Manage positive Employee Relations to instill a fun, exciting work environment in line with Madison's core values.
  • Manage overall hotel and departmental budgets through ensuring effective scheduling, accurate forecasting, managing inventory, controlling expenses, reviewing labor costs, creative promotions, and enforcing systems and controls.
  • Responsible for practicing and ensuring compliance in all health, sanitation, safety and security laws, labor laws, state certifications/licensing, and all internal policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with all department leaders in developing sales and marketing strategies (i.e. menus, advertisements, entertainment, food & beverage promotions, signs, incentives, flyers, e-blasts, social media, etc.) and coordinating the management of all third-party marketing resources.
  • Establish and set hotel rates and package offers.
  • Prepare/authorize purchase orders as required supporting hotel operations.
  • Develop and implement training with assistance of all department managers.
  • Oversees analytics of Reputation Management, including daily/weekly/quarterly/annual reporting.
  • Perform operational reviews with leadership to help analyze our portfolio's operations to help drive operating and financial efficiencies. Run operational analytics on an as needed and requested basis.
  • Provide property-level reports and updates to the VP of Resort Operations and President/CEO on a regular basis.
  • Provide overall operational support for property teams including the drafting of SOPs and process outlines in coordination with other shared services departments.
  • Work as liaison with external partners on new software rollouts.
  • Provide general support for resort and property teams.
  • Assist in advising affiliated companies on brand strategy development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Ability to maintain structure, results, and morale in a changing environment.
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
  • A minimum of 5 years Resort Management experience at a Manager level in an entertainment atmosphere.
  • 2 years' experience preferred at a Director level or above.
  • Experience managing a high-volume operation.
