  • Knowledge and experience in intellectual property law, general corporate law, and transactions.

Job Description:

The Paralegal will be responsible for providing support in the Legal Department and mainly providing assistance on intellectual property and administrative matters.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintenance of domestic and foreign trademark files, domestic and foreign patent files, trademark oppositions, domain name acquisitions and all associated renewals, using electronic systems and communicating with foreign trademark and patent attorneys, legal director, and outside counsel as needed.
  • Maintain calendar of deadlines for trademarks and patents and list of pending and granted trademarks and patents.
  • Legal Department's representative with sales team on brand protection matters and making purchases of potential counterfeit products using company credit cards as needed.
  • Conduct searches of new product name requests from the marketing team.
  • Assist Legal Director, as needed, with escalated complaints from Customer Service related to personal injury and/or property damage complaints, maintain complaint log, and file according to Companies Record Retention Policy.
  • Track and record legal attorney fees/expenses on Excel spreadsheet.
  • Maintain file room in accordance with Companies Record Retention Policy.
  • Provide legal and general administrative support including editing and formatting, proofreading, copying, scanning, and recordkeeping as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Paralegal Certificate or 5+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in intellectual property law, general corporate law, and transactions.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
