Full Time Nights Labor & Delivery Lead position **Eligible for $15,000.00 Commitment Bonus**

JOB SUMMARY:

The OB Registered Nurse Team Lead serves as a team leader, clinical resource person, role model, coach and facilitator for staff and department operations. Has the responsibility and authority to lead their work group; resolve routine issues, and create a positive, productive, and fiscally responsible work unit.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college.

Experience: Three years in Labor and Delivery nursing required.

License/Certifications:
  • Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in North Carolina.

Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP, FHM and Stable certifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of the RN include (but are not limited to):
  1. Works with the Director of Inpatient services to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients.
  2. Uses leadership principles in mobilizing the patient care team to achieve positive patient outcomes. Follows-up on matters to ensure they are successfully resolved.
  3. Assists Director of Inpatient services to assure staff competence and contributes to staff performance development.
  4. Aids with and/or prepares work schedules for department or work group.
  5. Aids with equipment and supply resources.
  6. Helps with policy and procedure development and staff education.
  7. Coordinates and teaches patient support programs and groups.
  8. Aid with regulatory and compliance readiness.
  9. Promotes positive work environment.
  10. Serves as a staff nurse within the department.
  11. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families and friends.
  12. Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients.
  13. Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
  14. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
  15. Ensures safe operation of equipment.
  16. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments.
  17. Administers medications by using the electronic health record and scanning process.
  18. Documents, monitors and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.
  19. Provides patient education of illness/disease and promotes health maintenance and disease prevention.
  20. Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
  21. Communicates effectively with patients, families and other team members.
  22. Performs a head-to-toe assessment and reassessments on all age groups.
  23. Interact professionally with patient/family and provides explanation and verbal reassurance.
  24. Formulates and updates an individualized plan of care for each patient.
  25. Assumes the role of patient advocate.
  26. Complies with protocols, procedures, and policies.
  27. Documents all nursing care data concisely, accurately and completely in a timely manner, using the proper format.
  28. Communicates appropriately and effectively with all hospital staff, visitors, families and physicians.
  29. Ability to be flexible organized and function under stressful and emergency situations.
  30. Always exhibits professionalism, showing respect and dignity to all.
  1. Participates with orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource and mentor in a professional manner.
  2. Participates in special assignments and Quality Improvement projects.


Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
