LocationQUINCY, MA Job TitleCounselor (ATS/CSS) Reports ToClinical Director SummaryThe Clinician provides comprehensive clinical services to individuals with substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders within the Acute Treatment Services (ATS) and Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) levels of care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team—including medical staff, clinicians, and case managers—the Clinician delivers individual and group therapy, conducts assessments, facilitates treatment planning, and coordinates effective after‑care and discharge services. This role is essential in promoting recovery through evidence‑based, client‑centered, and trauma‑informed care. The Clinician ensures compliance with all regulatory standards and provides integrated, wraparound support to the individuals served. Primary Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and use findings to develop individualized treatment plans. Complete all intake documentation accurately, including electronic submissions; familiarity with MA DPH EIM/ESM systems preferred. Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups focusing on relapse prevention, coping strategies, and recovery support. Utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) and other evidence‑based counseling techniques in individual and group settings. Demonstrate working knowledge of the 12 Steps of Recovery and incorporate principles when clinically appropriate. Collaborate with clients to develop, review, and update treatment plans with measurable goals and interventions every 48 hours. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation consistent with program and regulatory standards. Participate actively in daily multidisciplinary team meetings and bimonthly individual supervision sessions. Provide crisis intervention and support as clinically indicated. Coordinate after-care and discharge planning, including referrals, linkage to community resources, and scheduling follow‑up appointments with PCP and behavioral health providers. Maintain a strong working knowledge of ATS and CSS regulatory standards and adhere to all ethical and professional requirements. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a related field or LADC II certification required. Minimum three years of experience in substance use and/or co‑occurring disorder treatment. Indepth knowledge of ASAM criteria and clinical appropriateness for levels of care. Must successfully pass CORI and drug‑testing requirements. Strong understanding of and adherence to federal and state confidentiality laws (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA). Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with utilization review and insurance authorizations preferred. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn clinical management or EHR systems. Familiarity with MA DPH regulations and documentation standards. Candidates with lived experience are encouraged to apply; if in recovery, must have a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety. Personal characteristics of empathy, dedication, understanding, and genuineness are essential. Desired Skills Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred. Experience with trauma‑informed care and culturally responsive practices. Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
