Emergency Medical Technician – Special Police Officer (Armed) – Washington, DC Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician – Special Police Officer (Armed). Location: Washington, DC. Job Type: Full and Part‑Time. Shifts: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Weekends. Number of openings: 2. Responsibilities Perform unarmed SPO duties per post orders, including access control, screening, traffic control, communication, dispatch, patrol operations, and emergency response. Provide emergency care: CPR, AED usage, basic trauma care, bandaging, shock treatment, and additional medical care as needed. Maintain proper uniform, equipment, and grooming. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency; college coursework or an AA/AS degree preferred. Minimum 1 year of law‑enforcement or security experience and 1 year as a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certified EMT. Current SPO (Unarmed) license issued by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Security Officers Management Branch (SOMB). Maintain NREMT EMT Certificate, American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider, CPR, and Advanced First Aid (American Red Cross or equivalent). Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Training Requirements Security Post Orders Emergency Evacuation Procedures Code Bravo Watch Tour Procedures Certification Requirements (All) Unarmed SPO license issued by DC SOMB. Advanced First Aid card issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent. NREMT EMT Certification and AHA Health Care Provider CPR Certification. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED.
