Assess medical, psychological, and vocational information to determine eligibility for services. Develop and implement Individual Plans for Employment in partnership with the client. Authorize, coordinate, and negotiate services leading to successful employment outcomes. Devises job placement opportunities through analysis, development, and labor market information. Develop employer contacts and serve as liaison with employers. Utilize community rehabilitation resources to secure appropriate job placement. Collaborate with partners to assure appropriate use of resources and provide technical assistance to internal and external customers. Provide technical assistance and specialized training to internal customers. Participate in training experiences designed to enhance professional competency in vocational rehabilitation. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Education• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a field reasonably related to vocational rehabilitation (e.g., business administration, human resources, special education, supported employment, customized employment, economics, psychology). Additional education options include any other field that reasonably prepares individuals with transferable skills and training to work with consumers and employers. Experience• Bachelor’s degree plus not less than 2 years of paid or unpaid experience in one or more of the following areas: Direct experience as an employer, employment/placement counselor, or job developer. Direct experience as a small business owner or operator, or in self‑employment. Experience in human resources, recruitment, supervising employees, or training. Experience in other activities that provide experience in competitive integrated employment environments. Direct work with individuals with disabilities in settings such as an independent living center. Direct service or advocacy activities that provide individuals with skills in working with individuals with disabilities. Advanced Degree• Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a related field (e.g., business administration, human resources, special education, management, public administration, law, psychology, or another field that provides confidence in employment or rehabilitation). Advanced Experience• Advanced degree plus not less than 1 year of paid or unpaid experience in the same areas listed above. Language Preference• Preference given for bilingual in Spanish or Creole. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation guidance and counseling theories and practices. Knowledge of interviewing techniques and medical/psychological aspects of disability groups. Knowledge of effective communication principles and techniques. Knowledge of employment resources and vocational rehabilitation resources. Ability to compile, organize, and analyze medical, vocational, and psychological data. Ability to administer tests and analyze results. Ability to provide counseling and guidance in career planning. Ability to develop individual vocational rehabilitation programs and place clients appropriately. Ability to communicate effectively and establish effective working relationships. Background Screening All applicants must undergo level 2 employment screening including fingerprinting for statewide and federal criminal record checks, as required by Florida Statutes. Benefits State of Florida Retirement – 3% employee contribution required. 10 paid holidays annually. Salary credits: up to 5 years creditable service earn 8.667 h/month; 5‑10 years earn 10.833 h/month; >10 years earn 13 h/month. Career Service employees earn 8.667 h of sick leave credits per month. Health insurance for individual or family coverage – State pays 80% of premium. Life insurance – State pays $25,000 basic term life insurance for full‑time employees. Additional supplemental insurances available (dental, vision, etc.). Tax‑deferred medical and child‑care reimbursement accounts. Tax‑deferred savings program available through payroll deduction.
