Wheeler Machinery is seeking a highly motivated and safety-minded Welder for our Salt Lake City, UT location. Welders are responsible to weld and fabricate a variety of metals from sheet to heavy plate, read and interpret build prints, follow build instruction, meet, and exceed estimate weld times. This position is responsible to lead in safety, work as a team, and continually improve.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and work safely in all aspects of the job. Be a safety champion within the team, lead and model safe behaviors and drive continued safety improvements.
  • Willing to train a teachable employee in needed areas
  • Interprets blueprints and weld symbols
  • Works along manager and team leader to solve problems and provide solutions
  • Ability to work well in a team, give input, drive accountability, and train and mentor others.
  • Ability to see the big picture of the job and how your contribution impacts the project.
  • Ability to work from instruction and job routings.
  • Able to perform work in desired time requirements for each task and job.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience utilizing FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and Carbon arc gouging processes.
  • Experience fitting weldments per designed prints.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Must be willing to put in extra hours to take care of the customer.
  • Must be a team player and work well with others.
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Must be able to perform tasks without constant supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Heavy welding in construction and/or mining equipment experience
  • Machining experience
