At Galax Veterinary Clinic, we are looking for someone eager to create their perfect associate veterinarian position. We are a small animal practice located in Galax, Virginia, right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since opening in 1966, we have built ourselves upon the philosophies of family and community focus as well as the desire to be seen as part of a patient’s family rather than an extension of the internet or big-name corporations. We have a second location exactly 30 miles away in Mounty Airy, North Carolina, both renovated within the last 15 years. The areas we practice in offer compassionate and diverse patients and clientele, some offering “tips” consisting of farm fresh eggs or veggies and that ensure no two days are the same.

Our doctors are supported by a tremendous and expansive support staff. Our technicians are well-versed in surgical induction/monitoring, IV and urinary catheterization, wound care, and more. Our assistants are great with restraint and assisting in client education in exam rooms or on farm calls. At our Galax location, we see solely small animals and utilize equipment such as:

  • Advanced Surgical Capability (Orthopedics, cruciate repair, etc.)
  • Electrocautery
  • Cold Laser Therapy

We welcome veterinarians of all experience levels to come join our team We promote flexible schedules and always adequate work-life balance. We are open Saturdays but have no on-call or emergency responsibilities. We are always willing to provide unique and structured mentorship to any new or recent graduates.

Outdoor activities abound as we are located near the New River, Blue Ridge Parkway, and several VA state parks. Our Galax office is located at the start of the 57-mile new river trail Schools are excellent along with art galleries, museums, theaters, and other cultural opportunities.
