The Director of Nursing is an integral member of the management team and works closely with the Executive Director to ensure the health and wellness of our residents, performing initial and ongoing assessments and observation of our residents' physical and psycho-social needs, while coordinating with other departments to assure the highest quality of care. They interact directly with employees, residents, resident family members, vendors, and professional contacts within the community. What will you do as the Director of Nursing?
Foster a resident-centered approach to the planning and delivery of services to residents, supporting residents' rights to participate in decision-making and treating residents with dignity and respect.
Assess the health, functional, and psychosocial status of residents, initiating individualized service plans, proactively managing care and services for each resident, and maximizing their opportunity to remain in the assisted living or memory care environment.
Establish and maintain the medication program.
Oversee all hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and termination of employment of licensed nursing staff (LPN/LVN), Med Techs/CMA/CNAs, and all Care staff.
Hands-on training, supervision, and staff development.
Communicate regularly with residents' families regarding health care needs.
Maintain current departmental policies, procedures, and licenses, following company, Federal, State, and local requirements.
Ensure resident records and charting are current and up to date.
Participate in the marketing efforts of the management team by representing the community in a positive manner to outside agencies.
If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:
Positive team player mentality and passion for serving seniors
RN/LPN nursing license in good standing.
Minimum of 4 years working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems, and pharmacies.
Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory/management role; experience with budgets, staff development, training, and scheduling.
An associate degree or higher is required; additional coursework in management is an asset.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Proficient computer literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft suite.
Maintains current state-required certifications, like First Aid, CPR, and others.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends, holidays, and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
Capacity to be on-call 24/7.
Meet all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population, and individuals living with memory loss.
