Adult Diabetes Educator role at Columbia University Irving Medical Center Job Type: Officer of Administration Regular/Temporary: Regular Hours Per Week: 35 Salary Range: $85,000–$95,000 Responsibilities Provide comprehensive diabetes education to patients and families under supervision of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center Co-Director. Participate in Berrie Center diabetes clinical trials program, including insulin pump and glucose sensor training, review of dosing, study medication administration, and prevention of low blood sugars. Maintain up-to-date patient-facing educational materials for all Berrie Center clinicians. Lead support groups for special populations of patients with diabetes. Provide lectures and workshops for pediatric and adult endocrinology fellows and other learners related to practical aspects of diabetes management. Perform other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education and experience, plus 3 years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or RD or PA and type 1 diabetes experience. Experience with insulin pumps and glucose sensors. Licensed and currently registered as an RN or RD or PA in NY State. Ability to work collaboratively on a patient care team. Certified Diabetes Educator certification preferred.
