Salary Pay Transparency Act: Annual Full Pay Range: $73,205 - $106,634 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)Hourly Equivalent: $35.06 - $51.07 Position Details Payroll Title: FINANCIAL ANL 2 CXDepartment: PEDIATRICSJob Site: La JollaAppointment Type: CareerAppointment Percent: 100%Union: CX ContractTotal Openings: 1Work Schedule: Days, 8 Hour Shifts, Monday - FridayFiling Deadline: Tue 11/18/2025 Role Overview Under the direction of the Department of Pediatrics Director of Budget and Finance, the Financial Analyst will serve as the primary financial professional for the Department’s management of fiscal control and analysis. Responsibilities include implementing process re‑engineering efforts, executing financial and operational controls, and providing regular fiscal reports for clinical, departmental, service agreement, and outside income. The Analyst will develop and maintain ad‑hoc systems and databases to manage funds and operations, assist in implementing and monitoring faculty salaries, and work with division chiefs to oversee funds and expenditures. Key Responsibilities • Conduct research and assess internal control processes, identify issues requiring attention and recommend solutions to reduce labor intensiveness and improve accuracy and quality.• Apply professional concepts and organizational policies to resolve various issues of limited to moderate scope, including review of multiple factors.• Collaborate with UCSD personnel and external customers and partners, exercising judgment to determine appropriate action. Minimum Qualifications Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training. Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi‑task in a high volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team. Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Ability to independently interpret, analyze, and implement appropriate policies in a given situation. Demonstrated experience in budget preparation using automated spreadsheet systems. Demonstrated ability to work in pressure situations to meet deadlines and accommodate interruptions. Proven ability to analyze financial issues, recognize potential impact, identify creative and alternative solutions; make and implement recommendations. Demonstrated problem‑solving and negotiation skills with ability to exercise discretion. Knowledge of University policies and procedures regarding purchasing, returned goods, travel, disbursement, inventory, and ability to work collaboratively with contacts involved in these processes. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience with UCSD Personnel Payroll System (PPS) policies and procedures. Demonstrated experience in developing, producing and completing complex reports for various funding agencies; projecting multi‑year expenditures and outcomes as they relate to individual projects, and the department as a whole; experience applying programmatic knowledge to coordinate financial aspects of award administration. Demonstrated experience with UCSD on‑line and web‑based accounting systems (IFIS, FinancialLink, etc.). Special Conditions Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
