Food & Beverage Manager Overview This position oversees the daily operations of a multi‑unit food court within Navy Region Naval District Washington Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR). The manager is responsible for staff supervision, inventory control, budget management, food safety compliance, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Plan menus, supervise staff, control costs, and order supplies. Develop and implement food & beverage planning, merchandising and control procedures. Provide training for food‑handling procedures and maintain staff competency. Ensure all personnel paperwork is completed and submitted to the MWR Personnel office. Maintain facility and equipment in good working condition, addressing safety, sanitation, and security deficiencies. Apply financial and accounting knowledge to manage both appropriated and non‑appropriated funds. Oversee the Rations and Kind (RIK) program, ensuring adherence to program standards. Represent the MWR Food & Beverage activity at conferences and in negotiations with federal, state, or municipal organizations. Perform any other duties as required. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience managing a small‑to‑medium sized feeding facility. Must obtain SafeServe Manager certification within one year of hire and maintain it. Extensive knowledge of DOD, Navy Food and Beverage, and RIK policies, regulations, and procedures. Proficiency with management principles, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of food service programs. Strong leadership, organizational and problem‑solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Ability to pass a base background check and a position‑of‑trust check. Conditions of Employment Pass an E‑Verify employment verification check. Discrepancies must be resolved. Must sustain walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 lb. Direct deposit for salary required. Education Preferred: Four‑year college degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or Business Administration and two years of experience, or Two‑year college degree and four years of experience. Additional Information Salary is based on experience and education. A one‑year probationary period may apply. Direct Deposit/EFT required within the first 30 days.
