Providore Fine Foods (the evolution of Pastaworks, a Portland institution since 1983) opened in 2016 on Sandy Boulevard in Northeast Portland. Providore is a vibrant marketplace where shoppers can find unique, high-quality groceries from near and far, housemade pasta and prepared foods, artisan cheese and charcuterie, European and local wines, cookbooks and gifts. We are joined in the marketplace by our own Mediterranean chicken rotisserie Arrosto, along with Rubinette Produce Market (produce), TwoXSea (seafood), Revel Meat Co. (meat), Little T Baker (bread and pastry) and Hilary Horvath Flowers, to create an unparalleled grocery experience.


JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager - Retail oversees all aspects of the retail operations of the store, including managing and overseeing all retail managers, leads and general staff. This is an operational position that focuses on strategy, financials and management oversight, but also requires a creative mind and a deep passion and understanding of the product, curation and experience of the store.


The two GM positions (Retail and Kitchen) lead the executive leadership team in unison. The GM: Retail supervises the Admin Manager and Buying Director, and the GM: Kitchen also advises the Buying Director in accordance with any BOH roles.


To be successful in this position, you have an innate understanding of what makes Providore special and your operational, financial and management skills underpin that magic - you are the balancer of creativity and fiscal responsibility.  You work closely with Owners + Head Curators (Kaie Wellman + Kevin de Garmo) to foster and teach the ethos of Providore to all employees. You are exceptional when it comes to training and inspiring staff and creating a vibrant work culture, while also having the ability to give clear feedback and corrective actions in a constructive manner. You are knowledgeable and passionate about food, wine, travel, and design. 


QUALIFICATIONS

~ Bachelor’s Degree

~ 5+ Years of operations/management experience for grocery, retail or restaurants

~ Ability to analyze and manage financial results

~ Strong leadership, motivational and team-building skills

~ Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills

~ High-Level proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, business softwares and with computers and technology in general including POS systems 

~ Knowledge and passion for the food + wine of not only Europe, but the world

COMPENSATION, HOURS, BENEFITS + PERKS

~ Full-time, exempt, salaried position (45 - 50 hour work week) including one weekend day

~ $72,000 yearly 

~ Bonus program for Executive Leadership team TBD*
