OverviewJoin to apply for the Associate, Regional Investment Banking role at BMO U.S. The Associate combines deep industry sector knowledge across a broad array of sub‑sectors within Industrials, FCR, FIG, Tech, & Healthcare, innovative thinking in a team‑based approach and world‑class execution across a full suite of products to clients through an integrated Capital Markets platform using a sector ecosystem approach. This role is within our Regional Investment Banking team, headquartered in Chicago, with the mandate of covering commercial banking clients/prospects across our core regions from an investment banking standpoint including M&A, Leveraged Finance, ECM, DCM & Private Capital raising activities.ResponsibilitiesDevelop written internal and external marketing on pitch material.Support deal teams in development, presentation, and winning mandates.Seek to develop an understanding of client needs and outcomes.Provide materials to support an outstanding client experience.Identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients.Provide analytical findings to deal teams.Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders. Internal partners include Commercial Banking, IB Industry teams, & IB Product Teams.Ensure alignment between stakeholders.Research and analyze company and industry financial and operating information across middle market & mid‑cap companies including privately held & public corporates.Perform complex financial modeling and run valuation analysis as part of client/industry evaluations.Create statistical exhibits and financial performance trend analysis for client presentations.Prepare industry compilations to address public comps, precedent transactions, & key sector themes across a myriad of sectors leveraging some off‑the‑shelf content & newly created RIB content.Complete quality reports/analyses.Apply technical concepts and understand implication of work to client/transaction.Develop an understanding of and proficiency in using all required systems and models.Participate in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develop tailored messaging; and identify appropriate distribution channels.Provide feedback on, and support continuous improvement opportunities.Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and/or streamlined reporting.Deliver financial modeling to support strategic recommendations to clients.Consider risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day‑to‑day accountabilities and adhere to policies and.Focus may be on a business/group.Think creatively and propose new solutions.Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.Work independently & well within our team & across other teams.Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.Qualifications3+ years of successive relevant experience within investment and/or corporate banking. Experience in coverage team or M&A is preferred.An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting with outstanding academic achievement.Strong work ethic & entrepreneurial mindset in a newer group within Investment Banking with significant growth.Financial analysis training and experience.Shows initiative, prioritizes work, multi‑tasks effectively.Highly skilled in building complex financial models.Expertise in using financial computer applications and database management tools.Skilled in creating statistical presentations.Creative, insightful, and resourceful.Strong interpersonal skills within a demanding team environment.Strong ability to review and assess detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner.Works independently within a team environment.Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience.Verbal & written communication skills - In‑depth.Collaboration & team skills - In‑depth.Analytical and problem‑solving skills - In‑depth.Influence skills - In‑depth.Compensation and BenefitsExpected Base: $175,000.00 USD Annual. Pay Type: Salaried. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
