SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Public Works Director, Drivers are responsible for operating all pieces of No. 3 classified equipment including a sewer flusher truck and roller, snowplow, and 8-ton salt/dump trucks. This role also performs routine departmental work. RESPONSIBILITIES Must possess and continue to maintain a current Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License class B with tanker and air brake endorsements Ability to safely drive all size trucks including the operation of the snowplow Ability to safely haul all materials related to maintenance of the sanitary and storm systems, parks, signs, and roadways Ability to use a variety of power and hand tools utilized in the repair and maintenance of sanitary and storm systems, parks, signs, and roadways Ability to perform maintenance and repairs of sanitary and storm sewer systems, parks, signs, and roadways Ability to perform heavy labor for maintenance of sanitary and storm sewer infrastructure, parks, signs, and roadways Ability to drive and mow with a tractor Ability to perform cleaning at Municipal Buildings Ability to accomplish minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and minor building maintenance on Municipal property, as required Ability to perform laboring including shoveling, lifting, climbing and cleaning Ability to perform emergency call-out duties and snow fighting call outs Performs other assigned tasks as required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Obtain safety certifications associated with state or and local requirements Must have at least a Class B CDL license DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED; Must have the ability to read and write English; Must possess and continue to maintain a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License, Class B or greater Must be available to participate in emergency call outs; Position requires scheduled shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency callout work. Normal shift is 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Friday. CONDITIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can vary from moderate to loud. This position may be assigned to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and will also be required to be on-call. DRUG TESTING Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment) drug screen. PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a thorough investigation, consisting of a criminal history check, certification check, and education verification check.
