*Please Note: COVID Vaccine requirement for DOC employment NO LONGER REQUIRED* Shift: Monday through Friday from 7:00AM - 3:30PM The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Psychologist 4 the Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women (MCCCW) located in Belfair, WA.

The Psychologist 4 directly supervises a group of 3 dynamic mental health professionals in providing ethical and humane services to individuals assigned to MCCCW.  They will also have clinical oversite of three other camps. The incumbent will need to travel monthly to visit the other camps and connect with the staff there.  They will ensure those services are rooted in current, evidence-based practices provided by qualified professionals based on individualized treatment plans.  This leadership role establishes and maintains the standards for mental health services set forth by the Department of Corrections (DOC) so as to carry out its mission, "to improve public safety by positively changing lives", by influencing front line staff in promoting mental health stability and increased functioning for mentally ill patients.

Duties

Under the directions of the Correctional Mental Health Program Manager, the Psychologist 4 has the responsibility for the mental health services for the incarcerated population of the Mission Creek, Olympic Corrections Center, Cedar Creek Corrections Center, Larch Corrections Center and the patients transitioning/releasing from the camps.

  • Plans, executes, and participates in treatment programs.
  • Serves as consultant to diagnostic, intake, treatment, and disposition staff.
  • Provides individual and group psychotherapy to patients.
  • Responds to crises, including reports of suicidal/self harm ideations
  • Does psychodiagnostic testing of patients and employees.
  • Participates in training and education of institution staff in psychological field.
  • Provides program oversight
  • Supervises doctoral level psychologists in an institution, directs and coordinates work of psychologists with that of other institution service programs.
  • Serves as psychological consultant to Clinical Director, Superintendent and medical staff on problems involving psychological services.

Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in Psychology from an accredited school or department of Psychology whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), AND possession of a current license to practice psychology in the state of Washington.
 AND Three years of Postdoctoral Psychology experience, including one year of experience in forensic psychology. Valid Washington State Driver's License*Each employee is expected to maintain and adhere to the continuing education requirements for the applicable professional credential. Each employee must adhere to legislation and/or law changes that may affect current licensure and/or registration requirements.
