About the Water/Wastewater Engineering Group

NORESCO develops and delivers upgrades to utility client facilities that are intended to save operating costs or increase operating revenue. We deliver these upgrades, that can take many forms, in a Progressive Design Build environment, with long-term operating performance guarantees. We can also provide long-term operations and maintenance for our clients.

Our water/wastewater engineers provide the specialized skills and experience associated with water and wastewater treatment plants and distribution and collection systems. NORESCO is product and technology agnostic. We are able and willing to make upgrades in any area of the water or wastewater realm. We have considered or delivered upgrades including pumping, aeration, controls, digestion, biosolids drying, renewable natural gas, and cogeneration.

This individual will be responsible for conceptual development and design of these upgrades. Specifically, the engineer will lead and manage teams consisting of both in-house staff and consulting engineers, managing the design schedule and budget, overseeing customer engineering deliverables, providing QA/QC of documents, running technical customer meetings, and being the primary technical customer interface on large water/wastewater upgrades projects.

About the role

The position is a senior level position reporting to the Senior Manager, Water/Wastewater Engineering. Project Managers are engaged with multiple projects from opportunity identification, sales support, initial concept, project development, construction, commissioning, performance testing, and into operations and monitoring of long-term key performance indicators. They also have a key role in helping to support NORESCO’s business development and implementation strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for planning, directing, and monitoring all engineering aspects of water/wastewater projects from the concept stage through detailed design, construction, and commissioning in a collaborative Design/Build process which leverages NORESCO technical expertise with external engineering, vendor, and subcontractor partners and consultants.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining the design schedule, design budget, project scope of work, and the engineering deliverables. Track design deliverables/submissions, customer comments and approvals, ensure all elements of the project scope are accurately designed, documented, reviewed, and distributed to the project team for use during construction.
  • Lead design review meetings and charrettes both internal and with the customer and their advisors.
  • Lead engineering activities during project development including: site investigations, data collection, preparation of conceptual design documents, preparation for pricing-level design documents, and final design and permitting.
  • Support project pricing effort in partnership with the NORESCO construction department; Bid packages, subcontractor qualification, subcontractor bid-walks, use of third-party consultants, bid reviews, value engineering, evaluation of life cycle and long-term service agreements, etc.
  • Support project team during construction, commissioning, and performance phases to resolve design issues, document as-built conditions, and ensure performance objectives are met.
  • Identify key customer interests, needs, and drivers. Review these with project team members to refine strategies and develop scopes that address these concerns in the proposed project.
  • Mentor water/wastewater engineers that are earlier in their career development.
  • Support sales and development groups to prospect clients, audit customer facilities, participate in sales presentations, and develop technical write-ups for competitive proposal responses.
  • Evaluate facility upgrades through equipment or system modeling and analysis.
  • NORESCO has a need for both subject matter experts in water/wastewater engineering and engineers that are interested in direct management of an engineering team.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
