The University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine/Office of SVP for Health Affairs is seeking an Associate Director to join its Health Plans team. Key Responsibilities Plan and develop health and wellness program objectives and content, researching trends and needs, and aligning program directions accordingly. Serve as a key resource for self‑funded health plans and wellness program information; resolve problems or questions from staff, senior administrators, or external vendors. Develop and recommend program operating and administrative policies, manage dissemination, interpretation, and application of plan and program policies, and recommend approval of exceptions. Develop services that achieve high customer satisfaction with a focus on quality and innovation; manage and resolve human resources and member claims and related issues. Knowledge and experience in managed health care, including claims processing, benefit coverage, provider network, billing requirements, and HIPAA regulations. Experience administering an ERISA‑governed health plan. Familiarity with finance management in healthcare, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries. Strong organizational and project management skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. About USC Health Plans The University Health Plans department oversees all medical, dental, vision, and prescription care benefits for the university’s faculty, staff, and their dependents (nearly 19,000 eligible employees / 30,000 member lives). Employees may choose from six health insurance coverage options, including PPO, EPO, and HMO plans. The department supports USC through key initiatives in plan management, design, benefit planning, employee contribution pricing, financing, budgeting, and member services, while balancing fiscal discipline.
