Nursing Board Enforcement Agent

While offering fully remote employment, this position will service investigations and activity for Ohio's counties located in the Northwestern part of the State. This includes Van Wert county up to Williams county and Ottawa county to Wyandot county and everything in between. Therefore, selected applicant should be maintaining personal residence in this area of the State of Ohio in order to provide maximum performance and minimize hours traveling.
Independently investigates complaints and alleged violations of state/federal laws relating to the practice of nursing, dialysis care, nursing board rules and regulations, etc.; receives assignments from Compliance Intake section; prioritizes complaints to ensure appropriate time response in reference to the nature of the complaint; schedules appointments, meetings, interviews witnesses, obtains and reviews voluntary written statements, certified court entries, and other pertinent records, requests and receives written correspondence and note verbal communications. Determines what confidential medical records must be subpoenaed, prepares, prints and executes approved subpoenas to obtain certified copies of documents according to OBN policies and procedures, maintains patient confidentiality in reporting incidents to other agencies or Law Enforcement entities according to Ohio Revised Code. Coordinates with, refers other agents or internal departments of the Ohio Board of Nursing, other state agencies or Law Enforcement agencies. Prepares concise and detailed investigative reports for review by unit supervisor, supervising Board member, and adjudication coordinator when necessary; includes relevant information pertaining to the case, individuals (e.g., facility administrative personnel, witnesses, co-workers, etc.)
Maintains accurate and timely computerized records and reports; bi-weekly time reports, daily activity log, communications (e.g., phone, e-mail, faxes, etc.), travel, case file activity, etc. Prepares and submits travel expense reports for reimbursement to supervisor. Coordinates and maintains database indexes (e.g., Complaint, Incident or Event, Case File, Facilities, Certified Journal Entries,. Document and Witness subpoena, etc.); tracking systems, summaries, maintains contacts, cross-references, keeps up-to-date, etc.
Attends staff meetings, seminars, continuing education events. Makes recommendations and assists in implementation of new and/or changing rules, policies and procedures. Executes/serves urgent subpoenas and delivers certified documents. Performs other duties as assigned (e.g., attends meetings/training sessions, responds to messages, answers phones, takes messages, etc.).
Completion of associate core program in law enforcement, criminal justice, police science or related field; 5 yrs. exp. in law enforcement (to include knowledge of state & federal drug laws & criminal investigative activities); must provide own transportation.
