Role Overview The Associate Director is a full‑time member of the Network Strategy & Partnering team. You will lead strategic network analysis projects, evaluate feasibility options, and support other strategic initiatives across BioMarin and TOPS. This role shapes the future of BioMarin’s global manufacturing network, leveraging advanced analytics to drive operational excellence. Responsibilities Business process owner for Network Strategy assessments, overseeing and coordinating the process from intake, review, analysis to decision. Execute specific network analysis actions (e.g., CMO selection, Make‑v‑Buy) by building rigorous analyses that synthesize insight into actionable recommendations. Cross‑functional partnership with Manufacturing, TDS, Quality & Supply chain teams to ensure timely decision‑making on product/node decisions that support long‑term patient demand and product development milestones. Own and support the development of network strategy analytical tools and models, maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date data sets to reflect current long‑term assumptions on demand and capacity. Lead the development and application of advanced analytical tools, including stochastic modeling techniques, to simulate network scenarios under demand uncertainty and use probabilistic frameworks to optimize manufacturing configurations across modalities. Analyze business opportunities and challenges within the TOPS organization, providing financial and strategic analyses of decision options and making recommendations to senior management. Craft compelling narratives and business cases that translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations; communicate insights to senior leadership and shape strategic decisions. Lead project teams, influence overall strategic thinking, proactively manage stakeholders, and deliver on‑time projects that achieve results. Translate operations strategy into sound delivery options, perform options analysis, develop high‑level feasibility project plans, and ensure smooth transition from planning to implementation. Maintain key network strategy documents such as the assessment docket, quarterly value tracker, process, and decision log. Develop and maintain Business Development Playbooks to support TOPS BD integration plans and needs. Stay current on external trends and best practices. Experience & Desired Skills 8–10 years experience in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical; 2–5 years in decision‑support roles. Strong collaboration skills and effective communication with customers, peers, and senior management; ability to influence and work positively with others. Excellent oral, written, and formal presentation skills, creating concise presentations, graphs, and charts. Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders through persuasive storytelling, rigorous analysis, and well‑structured business cases. Agile coordination of teams virtually across multiple international locations. Experience developing, using, and maintaining analytical models for complex decision‑making. Creative problem‑solving skills and high resourcefulness in information gathering. Strategic agility, strong attention to detail, and execution. Comfort and effectiveness working indirectly through others. Demonstrated project management skills and ability to translate strategy into tangible implementation options. Background in chemical/biological engineering or science, with direct experience in manufacturing and international exposure preferred. Ability to work with minimal supervision: meet deadlines, prioritize, provide recommendations, and communicate updates. Self‑motivated, proactive management of long‑term or ongoing projects alongside daily routine. Ability to manage sensitive financial information related to project cost reports and facilities planning. Proven ability to manage multiple fast‑moving priorities. Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Operations Management, or Industrial Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred (especially MBA). Advanced degrees with strong focus on operations, supply chain, finance, quantitative methods, or operations research also welcome. Continuing education initiatives (People Management, Leadership, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, APICS certification, industry‑specific coursework) highly desirable.
