Our company is built upon the talent and experience of our associates, and we are looking for a driven and team-oriented Team Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team.JOB SUMMARY:The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the mechanical design of the project assigned. Specifically, this position will utilize expert knowledge and skills in the engineering and design of HVAC plumbing projects. Projects assigned to the Senior Mechanical Engineer are generally larger and more complex in nature. This position is responsible for identifying and providing solutions to complex mechanical design problems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will initiate conceptual designs subject to the review and approval of the Mechanical Engineer Team Lead, Engineering Manager, and Preconstruction Manager.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for all aspects of the mechanical design of the project assignedOrganize the design and engineering effort required for assigned projectsReport to the team lead mechanical engineer regarding scheduling requirementsDirect and accept responsibility for the work of designers and engineers assigned to the projectMake adjustments to drawings, calculations, and specifications as required by the team lead mechanical engineerMust be familiar with the project's scope of work, engineering, and construction budgetAssist in developing and maintaining design and engineering standardsUtilize knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete the drawings with a minimum of supervision.Collaborate with project teams to monitor and meet milestones of the project schedule within the allotted budgetsInform the team lead mechanical engineer of project scope and budget changes; monitor project milestones to assure project quality and adherence to the project budgetPerform site surveys and equipment assessments; site visits may require overnight travelProvide project engineering coordination during construction operations as assignedServe in a support role on projects as directed by the team lead mechanical engineerSupport the commissioning team with all aspects of commissioning servicesDevelop accurate preliminary design solutions for prospective complex projects within an expedited timeframeDevelop and maintain productive relationships with customers throughout the course of a projectOther duties as assigned within the scope of this roleSUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: NoneQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical EngineeringMinimum of seven (7) years' mechanical, or HVAC engineering experience with a professional engineering firm, automation contractor, or mechanical contractor engaged in MEP related or similar work desired.Professional Mechanical Engineer's license is a plus, but not requiredWillingness to travel to worksites, up to 25%Driver's license and reliable transportationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESStrong understanding of mechanical, controls, electrical and construction means, and methods associated with the renovation of commercial and institutional buildings and/or similar facilitiesProficient user of Microsoft office suite; highly proficient use of Excel and other software used in the construction industryFamiliarity with project management software (e.g. Procore, Bluebeam Revu)Basic understanding of AutoCAD/Revit Design softwareExcellent mathematic skills in order to perform the duties of this role, review or prepare budgets and other job-related documents, and to effectively perform the role of a mechanical engineerStrong communication skills (oral and written); must be able to effectively relay information to various audience groups, including, but not customers and perspective customers, managers, leadership, colleagues, and business associates; must be able to prepare professional written communications (emails, documents, etc.)Strong interpersonal skills; ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with individuals internal and external to the company and from various backgroundsHighly collaborative and focused on sharing details routinely and consistently with team membersSelf-managing, able to work autonomously when necessary and effectively integrate with project teammates to meet deadlines and expectationsDemonstrate a persistent optimism and the ability to navigate challenges in a way that produces value, exceeds expectations, and promotes company successDemonstrate the ability to approach new and demanding situations with innovation and determinationOperate at a high level of speed and productivity, be sensitive to time and cost factors associated with their expertise, project budgets and company-wide financial goalsStrong organization skills with the ability to self-motivate and prioritize tasks; must be able to effectively manage own schedule with limited oversightExcellent analytical skills; ability to analyze data and relay trends and potential outcomes; ability to evaluate problems and identify resolutions; good negotiation skillsMust demonstrate professionalism and tact in all interactionsAbility to maintain satisfactory attendanceWORKING CONDITIONSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Work is performed mostly in office settings. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
