Executive Underwriter OR AVP, Underwriting Director- National Accounts Excess Casualty

OverviewNational Account Excess Casualty Underwriter (Senior or AVP) at Zurich North America. This role is based in the Zurich office with a hybrid work arrangement and offices in Atlanta, New York, and Chicago. The incumbent will be visible in the marketplace to meet with agents and brokers and is expected to be in the office/market three days per week.ResponsibilitiesProactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities.Demonstrating specialized knowledge and expertise in underwriting National Account business.Completing detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.Contributing to the development and completion of proposals; providing technical guidance, assistance, and training to lower-level underwriters.Qualifying accounts that meet the organization’s appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.Making agent/broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.Negotiating Terms & Conditions and closing deals.Cross-selling other lines of business to increase product density with the account.Participating in Sales Team meetings related to assigned brokers and/or territory.Proactively engaging in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to the effective date.Developing strong broker and client networks as they relate to industries underwritten by the Business Unit.QualificationsNational Account Excess Casualty Underwriter (Senior) QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, ORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area, ORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, ORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area ANDKnowledge of Microsoft Office; experience meeting time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business; experience working in a team environment.National Account Excess Casualty Underwriter (AVP) QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, ORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area, ORZurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market-facing area, ORZurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area ANDKnowledge of Microsoft Office; experience working in a team environment; experience with umbrella underwriting.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s DegreeCPCUAdvanced knowledge of National Account Excess Casualty product linesKnowledge of National Account Primary Casualty and loss-sensitive programs and accountsStrong broker/customer relationshipsExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsStrong presentation skillsResults-orientedDetailsLocation(s): AM - New York, AM - Atlanta, AM - ChicagoRemote Working: HybridSchedule: Full TimeEmployment Sponsorship Offered: NoThe combined salary range for this position is $98,300.00–$213,000.00, with Senior level ranging from $98,300.00–$161,000.00 (15% short-term incentive) and AVP level ranging from $130,000.00–$213,000.00 (20% short-term incentive).
