Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, seeks a full time (36 hours per week, benefits eligible) Cook at the Freeses Assisted Living Facility. As the Cook, you will work to prepare healthy nutritious meals in the kitchen, and will assist with cleanup of the dining and kitchen areas. In addition, successful candidate will work as part of a team to serve meals to residents in the dining area of the facility in a manner that assures an enjoyable dining experience.

Cook Hours-36 hours one weekend day (4 days a week, flexible days)

Location: Bangor, Maine

Cook Requirements:

  • Cook, prepare, or serve meals as required.

  • Maintain work environment, clean and sanitize meal preparation, serving and ding area. Assist in maintaining all policies and procedures related to dietary services.

  • Participate in required meetings and trainings.

  • Meet requirements of State and Federal Performance Regulations.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with residents and families.


Cook Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and 1-2 years paid experience working in a kitchen.

  • Ability to use small and large kitchen equipment.

  • Be neat, clean, and well organized.

  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The starting rate of pay for the Cook position is $16.10 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
