Description: The Rural Family Practice Physician offers comprehensive family medicine services to individuals of all ages and genders, adhering to SEARHC policies, Medical Staff Bylaws, and nationally recognized medical standards. Additionally, based on community needs, the physician may participate in shared after-hours emergency call coverage.
Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
- Deliver comprehensive primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, care coordination, referrals, preventive care, and health maintenance to a dedicated patient panel.
- Participate fully in shared local urgent/emergent care on-call rotation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services as per SEARHC policy.
- Foster optimal patient experiences through strong listening and communication skills, nurturing long-term patient care relationships.
- Actively engage in SEARHC quality patient care initiatives and quality assurance programs.
- Participate in provider and clinic meetings, as well as SEARHC medical staff functions.
- Hold a State of Alaska Medical License as an MD or DO.
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Internal Medicine-Pediatrics. If Board Eligible, achieve Board Certification within 3 years of start date.
- Maintain an active unrestricted DEA registration.
- Hold active SEARHC medical staff privileges.
- Obtain BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications within one year of start date. ALSO training preferred.
- Proficient in the principles and practices of primary care.
- Familiarity with standards of care, EMTALA, HIPAA, healthcare risk management principles, medical ethics, and medical malpractice principles.
- Communicating openly, respectfully, helpfully, supportively, and collaboratively with staff and patients.
- Provide high-quality healthcare services, including performing medical procedures suitable for outpatient and emergency care settings.
- Provide clinical leadership, promote teamwork and collaboration, offer clinical guidance to midlevel providers, and resolve conflicts.
- Efficiently use electronic medical records and other clinically required technology.
- Express ideas clearly through oral and written communication, analyze complex situations efficiently, problem-solve effectively, and implement clinical program strategies.
