Bilingual Recovery Support Specialist – SAFE Family Recovery Join to apply for the Bilingual Recovery Support Specialist – SAFE Family Recovery role at Wheeler Health. Position Summary The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) is an individual who is either in direct sustained recovery, or who has been directly impacted by addiction. Using a motivational approach, the RSS will assist clients with linking to the appropriate recovery service based on identified need. The RSS will use an evidence‑based model to provide ongoing support to clients who’ve received recovery services. Services may be delivered in community, office settings, and regional DCF offices. Training and extensive supervision are provided. Bilingual Requirement & Compensation Bilingual in Spanish and English required. Bilingual stipend $2,288 yearly. Rate $21 per hour. $2,000 sign‑on, half upon hire & half at 1 year of service. Cost of living stipend $4,160. Education and Experience/Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related human services field is preferred. Experience working in the substance use recovery field and/or lived recovery experience is required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate individual parent/caregiver needs and respond to crisis situations. Valid Driver’s License required. Provide toxicology screens and SBIRT upon referral. Utilize the GAIN Short Screener (GAIN‑SS) to screen for mental health, substance use disorder, and crime/violence. Provide RMC for clients up to six months post‑treatment, including frequent check‑ins in person, over the phone, and by text. Mentor clients and serve as a role model, promoting hope that recovery is possible. Proactively connect clients to local recovery resources, identify concerns or relapse early, and re‑engage clients in treatment services. Assist clients in following child safety plans. Provide recovery education at all phases of recovery. Assist in professional training, outreach, and public education services as assigned. Document clinical activities in client records as required by Wheeler Clinic. Identify and support linkages to community resources collaboratively. Assist recovering persons in identifying personal strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Co‑ordinate services by other community professionals. Refer to licensed substance use provider as per screen results. Provide reports on SBIRT findings to parent/caregiver and DCF. Refer parents/caregivers who contest drug test results to a licensed provider for evaluation. Develop cultural understanding of served groups and use appropriate approaches.
