We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to contribute to the success of our customers by ensuring that production equipment is meticulously maintained, maximizing overall equipment uptime and line productivity. This is a 3rd shift opportunity that would operate Sunday - Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.


Key Job Accountabilities

1. Respond to maintenance requests and conduct routine maintenance so that production equipment reliably achieves production goals.

  • Conduct changeovers and equipment start-ups efficiently to meet or exceed production standards
  • Thoroughly test equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime to ensure it's ready to run without issues at start-up
  • Minimize temporary "stop-gap" measures as a means of keeping lines and equipment operating
  • Order replacement parts proactively to minimize emergency maintenance downtime
  • Request work orders as needed to maintain optimal equipment uptime
  • Measure and analyze "downtime" data, then debrief with relevant stakeholders to improve future outcomes
  • Respond to all internal customer requests, prioritizing production as the primary internal customer

2. Diligently execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities and continuously seek opportunities for improvement, ensuring production equipment consistently meets or exceeds established performance goals.

  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks in a timely, disciplined manner to proactively prevent future downtime
  • Thoroughly follow up on findings from PM tasks and line work to continually enhance equipment reliability
  • Actively contribute knowledge gained through PM task completion to refine the overall PM planning process, optimizing equipment uptime and efficiency
  • Ensure changes to schedules, material availability, and line operations do not hinder the completion of scheduled PM activities
  • Collaborate to improve equipment design, maximizing throughput while minimizing non-value-added labor

3. Promptly diagnose, maintain, and repair electronic systems and equipment used in the industrial manufacturing process as needed to ensure optimal performance.

  • Troubleshoot and replace electronic systems components (e.g., fuses, VFDs, contacts, sensors, breakers) as needed to restore proper functionality.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic, water, sanitation, thermal, and hydraulic systems to maintain optimal performance.
  • Thoroughly inspect all connections, electronic control systems, and mechanical equipment, promptly addressing any defective components to ensure reliable operation.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic tests using HMI and/or multi-meters to identify and correct problems, restoring full system functionality.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs using a variety of hand tools and electronic equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

4. Administer the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to ensure system reliability, accuracy, and optimal performance.

  • Enter completed work orders and preventive maintenance (PM) tasks into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to maintain accurate records.
  • Assign necessary parts and materials to specific work orders within the CMMS to ensure availability of required resources.
  • Utilize the CMMS to order and restock parts and supplies, maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support ongoing maintenance and repair activities.3]]
  • Perform other CMMS-related duties as assigned to optimize the system's functionality and data integrity.

5. Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of all equipment, tools, and designated maintenance work areas.

  • Administer lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures and strictly follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) rules to ensure the safety of all personnel.,
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in all work areas using the 5S methodology to promote efficiency and minimize safety risks.,
  • Proactively identify and promptly correct any safety issues or hazards for the benefit of all employees, contributing to a safe and productive work environment.,

6. Foster and actively maintain a culture of "lean action" within the department, ensuring the team consistently lives and executes lean principles better than any other organization.

  • Implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste throughout the department.
  • Apply and utilize "lean tools" to permanently implement operational improvements.
  • Institutionalize the 5S methodology (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) across all aspects of the department.

7. Other work as assigned


Education and Experience

  • 5 or more years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment and a High School Diploma (or equivalent) OR
  • 3 or more years' of relevant experience, along with a two-year Associate's degree or industry certification in industrial electronics or maintenance.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in using processes and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of production
  • Able to maintain and grow technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Accurate, precise, and attentive to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows XP through Windows 8, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Understands or capable of learning the company's MRP software and CMMS
  • Able to perform machining (e.g., lathe, milling machine), fabricating & welding (including stainless steel), and plumbing
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics, AutoCAD drawings, P&ID diagrams, and technical drawings,
  • Knowledge of 3 phase AC, DC, and PLC controls.
