We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.Salary range: $115,000 - $125,000 annuallySchedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, primarily during standard business hoursLocation: 37 Grove Street, San FranciscoOrganizational Core Competencies: Accountable / Adaptable / Client-centered / Collaborative / Committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging / ResourcefulJob OverviewThe Training Director will be responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Compass employee training program. This role is instrumental in ensuring that all Compass employees receive the training they need to support the organization's mission, be successful in their role, and continue to grow professionally. The Training Director will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Program Officer, and others to both support staff in carrying out their day-to-day responsibilities at a high level and develop leaders at all levels of the organization. The Training Director serves as the programmatic and operational leader for training across the organization and promotes a culture of learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement.ResponsibilitiesOversee all aspects of the Compass employee training program including planning, curriculum development, facilitation, facilitator support, and coordination of training sessions (virtual, hybrid, or in-person).Collaborate with executive team and senior leadership to ensure training offerings support the organization's mission and strategic goals.Take a comprehensive approach to assessment of organizational skills gaps including thought partnership with staff from across the organization to identify shared training needs and interests.Manage the annual training calendar, this includes content development, coordination with subject matter experts and external trainers, and ensuring training content aligns with organizational values and staff needs.Work collaboratively with people managers to create learning paths that develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed to deliver on individual and organizational goalsDevelop and implement systems to collect feedback, track engagement, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement of the training programCollaborate with the People and Culture team to support shared goals including coordination of onboarding activities and monitoring of required trainingsMaintain records of participation in training program activities across the organizationEstablish and manage relationships with external subject matter experts and/or consultants to supplement internally developed trainingsConduct research and stay up to date on learning trends in the industry and recommend new training approaches and learning management systemsRequired QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Training Manager, Director of Learning and Development, Director of Organizational Learning, or a similar role.Awareness of adult learning styles, asynchronous learning approaches and other workplace learning best practices.Experience developing and implementing training curriculums and plans.Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with a minimum of 5 years of experience leading trainings and/or meetings both online and in person.Strong organizational and project management skills.Experience in using data and feedback to evaluate training effectiveness and drive improvements.Ability to work effectively with leadership, program staff, and trainers to achieve strategic objectives.Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also as a team player who can productively engage with others.Excellent relationship building skills and ability to manage multiple, diverse interest-holders.Experience selecting and managing external consultant relationships.Strong professional skills: organized, reliable, detail-oriented, team-oriented.Deep commitment to and demonstrated success discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging throughout a complex and dynamic organizationPrior experience in creating training material for a nonprofit service organization is a plus.Previous experience working in a program role within a social services organization a plus.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Compass’ work with at-risk families.Compensation and BenefitsSalary: $115,000 - $125,000 annually.Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, increasing to 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children.
