Role OverviewWe are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Platform Engineering team. This role will drive the evolution of our platform, with a specific focus on our Kubernetes-based Platform as a Service (PaaS). This is an exciting opportunity to lead a new team and have a significant impact on the future of how Klaviyo deploys and manages its services.How You'll Make a DifferenceAct as a hands-on player-coach, contributing technically to the team\'s projects while mentoring and leveling up your direct reports.Manage 3-5 Platform Engineers remotely.Help individuals on your team develop and execute SMART goals and personal development plans that align with Klaviyo\'s goals and objectives, and understand how their work fits into the bigger picture.Interview, hire, and level up the Platform Engineering team.Work with the team on project planning and defining milestones, identifying dependencies, and meeting business goals.Participate in deep system design and implementation discussions within your team and across partner teams to ensure that we\'re building the right systems and keeping quality high.Iterate and improve upon engineering-wide processes like recruiting, onboarding, performance management, communication, and technical ownership.Who You AreSuccessfully led and delivered infrastructure projects, specifically with a focus on a Kubernetes-based platform, spanning multiple quarters and involving input from multiple external stakeholders.Experience coaching and growing Site Reliability or Platform Engineers.Experience developing and rolling out engineering-wide processes.Focused on providing a positive user experience, specifically for internal developer customers.Technical experience in:Kubernetes and container orchestrationCloud-native technologies and architecturesInfrastructure as Code (IaC)Observability, networking, and security in a Kubernetes environmentYou\'ve already experimented with AI in work or personal projects, and you\'re excited to dive in and learn fast. You\'re hungry to responsibly explore new AI tools and workflows, finding ways to make your work smarter and more efficient.We use Covey as part of our hiring and / or promotional process.
