Position DescriptionThe department offers an MSAE program (enrollment 77) and an ABET-accredited BSAE program (enrollment 512). Student populations are diverse, with Asian (33%) and Hispanic/Latinx (32%) as the two largest groups. The AE programs emphasize inclusive, student-centered pedagogy with project-based learning, laboratories in aerodynamics, structures, dynamics and controls, space systems engineering, and rocketry. Projects often involve collaboration with NASA and local industry. The college is a leading provider of engineers to Silicon Valley and features the Technology Education Satellite program (TechEdSat) developed with NASA Ames Research Center. Required QualificationsPh.D. in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field.Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population, with experience in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, or similar settings. Preferred QualificationsSpecialization: Dynamics and control. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in aerospace autonomous systems and/or eVTOL systems/urban air mobility. Key ResponsibilitiesTeach and assess undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of specialization; develop laboratory experiments to support teaching and research; supervise graduate and undergraduate student projects; engage in peer-reviewed scholarly work.Collaborate with faculty within and outside the department for curriculum design, assessment, and other scholarly pursuits; participate in shared governance and service on committees.Organize classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).Demonstrate awareness and experience in addressing the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
