Summary: The Yard Driver is responsible for moving trailers in a safe manner to and from dock, and hull trailers. The Yard Driver also performs sanitation and maintenance on equipment and surrounding areas and ensures the yard tractor is properly maintained and cleaned per OEM requirements to minimize downtime.This position will require you to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and assist with any other duties assigned by the Regional Procurement Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform all job duties with health safety and food safety as the number one priority.
- Monitors Hull Trailers and oil stock trailers.
- Moves and relocates trailers when full and replaces them with empty trailers.
- Weighs trailers, documents weights, and communicates weights as needed.
- Drives truck to destination.
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
- Assists workers in loading and unloading trucks.
- communicates, both verbal and written.
- Adheres to OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Performs LOTO and other SOPs.
- Follows operator-level maintenance SOPs.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of one-year experience operating equipment in a manufacturing environment, or one-year experience running complex farm equipment, one year of experience preferred and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be mechanically inclined; having the capability to change decks, screens, and sizing reels not limited to any other function needed within the shelling process.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The shelling facility is not a climate-controlled environment.
